The “Call to Action on Protection from Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies” is a global initiative aimed at transforming the way gender-based violence (GBV) is addressed in humanitarian emergencies. Launched in 2013, it brings together governments, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to ensure that GBV prevention and response are a prioritized, life-saving interventions in emergency situations.
Receiving the letter of endorsement and being invited to join the Call to Action on GBV as a new partner is a significant milestone for BFD. It reflects our protecting the rights of women and girls and addressing the urgent need to combat GBV in emergency settings. This partnership will provide us with a platform to contribute our expertise, resources, and innovative solutions to the collective effort to transform the way GBV is addressed in humanitarian crises.
Our involvement in the Call to Action on GBV aligns seamlessly with BFD’s overarching mission to foster sustainable development, promote human rights, and empower vulnerable populations. By integrating GBV prevention and response into our humanitarian and development programs, we aim to create safer and more inclusive environments for all individuals, especially those affected by crises and conflicts.
