GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION |
MAIN PURPOSE: |
Under the direct supervision of the MEAL officer, the Data Entry is responsible for supporting the project staff and MEAL team in the development, implementation, and management of the project database by collecting and entering all relevant data from internal and external sources, analyzing the data, and submitting timely and quality reports to his/her line manager. S/he shall support in establishing a transparent system that ensures smooth data/information flow. |
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Ensure proper design, formulation, coding, and utility of the beneficiary database.
- Enter the data collected by the field team in the database in electronic version according to the activities and CMAM, CPDR, and other activity tools.
- Participate in the field teams’ training about data collection on the field.
- Ensure the quality of the data entered and report to the line manager for issues encountered in the data quality/entry.
- Ensure all data entered are correct and cross-check with paper versions.
- Support in developing and designing information management systems resulting from monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities, such as progress reports, databases, and complaint mechanisms.
- Close monitoring of achieved indicators against targets and report any lags.
- Ensure comprehensive submission of required data analyses for periodic, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting cycles of the project.
- Ensure adaptions of the database according to the project’s needs, in close collaboration with the MEAL Officer.
- Participate in the field visit with the project team for verification of collected data at health facility levels or FDPs.
- Report any discrepancies between the database and the documents used by the team on the field to the MEAL Officer.
- Propose improvements, under the supervision of the MEAL Officer, of the database and documents used by the team on the field and ensure the adaption of these documents as needed.
- Provide monthly feedback on collected data to the MEAL team and field coordinators.
- Provide relevant analysis of the collected data and produce information on the project’s outputs, outcomes, and impacts.
- Generate comprehensive quantitative and data on activities using the different follow-up tools.
- Ensure frequent backup of the databases.
- Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: |
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information management, or another relevant field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related role in an INGO/NGO environment, preferably in a humanitarian context.
- Solid conceptual understanding of different components of DATA.
- Demonstrated skills in supporting DATA systems.
- Strong experience in information management systems.
- Previous experience in managing a team and managing projects.
- Ability to work both in an advisory and a hands-on implementation capacity.
- Ability to write clear and well-argued assessments and project reports.
- Knowledge of the development of e-data collection tools.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to handle complex issues.
- Very good knowledge of MS office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); and (e-data applications, Kobo toolbox, …).
- Commitment to the aims and principles of HI.
- English and Arabic language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing).
