GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION |
MAIN PURPOSE:
The Protection officer will be responsible for contributing to the timely and quality implementation of activities, delivering continuous technical support, performing monitoring and evaluation of the quality of work, and capacity building of staff who s/he will be working within integrated protection activity guarantee the proper functioning and SOP of protection band the referral Policy in the project by follow up the project goals and ensure effective performance and response. The position requires a flexible working schedule. Allowing working hours during day and night times if needed. |
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Ensure daily quality implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of integrated protection project interventions and activities according to the project plan.
- Provide technical support to the medical mobile team and HFs Psychosocial focal point at field level with providing specific capacity-building, tools, awareness, guidance, and training on PSS, CM, and protection interventions to ensure the relevant components are consistent with the project goals and Response.
- Plans and supervises the development, coordination, implementation and monitoring of project protection activities.
- Carries out regular field visits to provide technical support for implementation activities and monitor project progress, advising for the staff as per need.
- Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality for all case-related information; protect the identities of clients in the design and implementation of all activities.
- Coordinate the preparation of, implement and oversee Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all protection activities
- Research, collect and disseminate relevant protection information and good practices to enhance protection delivery
- Develop the protection capacity of organization staffs to assume their responsibilities vis-à-vis all persons of concern through protection training, mainstreaming and related activities
- Provide ongoing protection analysis (including aspects of conflict analysis, gender, and risk management) and lessons learned from project experience to inform the project manager, and program managers in improved program development, implementation
- Entering and managing data for critical cases that require complete confidentiality in managing the data
- Developing and updating a database of service providers in the areas of the organization’s actions and strengthening relations with them
- Follow up the Referring cases that need to appropriate services and ensure post referral follow up;
- Ensure proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies)
- Write regular field visit required reports on major findings, needs and problems faced
- Ensure adequate project monitoring systems and evaluation procedures are in place applying appropriate tools in order to collect and update all progress indicators for the project
- Act as the focal point for all protection related issues
- Ensures the referral system is running smoothly according to the project SOP and BFD policy .
- Builds and maintain good relationships with relevant agencies and service providers
- Refreshes list of contacts and service mapping provided project and other partner .
- Active participation in periodic meetings and meetings in the organization as well in the protection cluster meetings.
- Participate in the activities of evaluating interventions and assessing the level of the organization’s commitment to applying the principle of protection in its programs, including conducting interviews, focus groups, questionnaires, etc.

Requirements and Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or any related field.
- Experience working with IDPs, returnees and vulnerable communities in camp and non-camp area..
- At least 3 years’ experience working in protection activites and emergency humanitrain field .
- Previous experience working with NGOs/INGOs is highly preferred
- Fluent in Arabic and English (speaking, reading, writing).
- Strong knowledge and skills of computer and prior experience working with smart data collection tools such as KOBO, and respect confidentiality of data and information
- Show diplomacy, good communication and has good interpersonal skills.
- able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities able to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
- Possess multi-cultural flexibility and experience
- Strong organizational skills and good ability to make proactive suggestions
- Calm, listen rigorously, able to work under pressure and handle stressful situation
- Team player, and able to work independently

Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS): The role holder is required to carry out the duties in adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standards, the values, and principles outlined in BFD’s policies such as Code of Conduct, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Child Safeguarding, Anti Workplace Harassment, Fiscal Integrity, Anti-Retaliation, and other internal policies and guidelines.
