MAIN PURPOSE:
He/She will be based in the Marib office and responsible for overseeing the implementation of health & Nutrition components of the project and ensuring that the quality standards are met. He/she will also ensure effective implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of integrated health and nutrition activities. The Health Officer will conduct regular field visits to the health centers to provide supportive supervision to the projects. |
Health & Nutrition Programming:
- Contributing to management of the project: including planning, needs re-assessment, and mobilization, financial planning and tracking, supervision of project staff, technical guidance, reporting.
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluating, and documenting the progress of project implementation against indicators are being followed as overall project management progress monitoring against project proposals and logical frameworks.
- Manage and work with M&E Team to implement and maintain prescribed reporting systems to monitor and evaluate the objectives, indicators, and outcomes and ensure accurate and timely data collection at the field level.
- Coordinate and organize the process of review and joint monitoring of Health projects with government counterparts and relevant stakeholders for review and monitoring of health & Nutrition projects to ensure achievement of objectives and attainment of high-quality interventions. Recommend corrective actions when necessary to meet the objectives.
- Coordinate with Project Manager and other officers for technical advice, integration of WASH and CVA components with other project thematic interventions during planning, designing, and implementation.
- Ensure that all program activities and training are both in line with global standards and ministry and local government requirements.
- Actively represent BFD by attending cluster/coordination meetings relevant to Health & Nutrition.
- Ensure gender equity and social inclusion in all aspects of WASH interventions.
- Contributing to the preparation of internal and external reports including regular reports, expenditure reports, and projection plans.
- Facilitate the process of capturing, documenting, and disseminating project experiences, achievements, good practice as lessons learned, case studies, success stories, and progress reports related to Health & Nutrition.
- Identify and report challenges to remove any obstacles that might arise during project implementation.
- Accomplish all related tasks through ERP System.
- Participate and lead needs assessment, analyze and organize data/information.
- Accomplish the other necessary activities related to the office and program and tasks assigned by the Supervisor.
Coordination:
- Coordinate with relevant local authorities; MOH, GHO and DHO, community leaders, and other relevant local NGOs in the implementation of the Health & Nutrition project.
- Assist Health & Nutrition team to coordinate and engage with key partners (especially GHO and DHO) and other stakeholders and ensure their participation at different stages of project implementation as required.
Admin work and Manage Staff:
- Ensure staff is trained to the appropriate local MoH Health & Nutrition standards.
- Follow up on procurement of supplies and stationery for the project activities as procurement policy;
- Follow-up staff Attendance and Review Timesheet.
- Promote a positive team environment between various teams and project staff in different locations
- Regularly Field visits to HFs/MT/CHVs and provides HWs with on-job training.
- Work closely with the field teams to determine the operational needs of the emergency health and nutrition interventions
Monitoring, Evaluation and Accountability, and Quality:
With support from the MEAL team, Project Manager
- Conduct regular visits to HFs/MTs/CHVs to provide technical guidance/support and identify issues that need timely action and support at different levels
- Actively monitor Health & Nutrition project activities at the site level, ensuring the quality of BFD’s programme, reporting and flagging concerns to project Manager.
- Help in building the Baseline/Quarterly/Endline survey, components with MEAL team.
- Ensure that communities are regularly involved in all phases of the programming
General:
- Comply with BFD policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Perform any other tasks asked by the supervisor

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or its equivalent (Medical, Public Health, Nutrition).
- Minimum 2 years of previous experience in Health and nutrition projects.
- Previous experience of supervising staff
- Previous experience with similar projects.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic; ability to communicate strategically under pressure
- Excellent English Language Writing and reading.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and excellent sense of organization
- Excellent writer – ability to develop high-quality reports and accurately analyze M&E data
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions quickly and independently
- Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations.
- Ability to relate to and effectively motivate staff
- Ability to represent the Agency in high-level meetings with donors and local government
- Proficient in computer applications, especially with Word and Excel, PowerPoint a plus.
