Crafting a Future: How Construction Skills Changed Mohammed’s Life
Mohammed, a 20-year-old struggling to provide for his family, found a life-changing opportunity through a water tank rehabilitation project. Implemented by the Building Foundation for Development, in partnership with the World Food Programme and funded by the European Union and Sweden, the project provided Mohammed with construction skills, transforming his life and enabling him to support his family and community.
Registered as a beneficiary in the Gamady sub-district of Bajil district, Mohammed participated in rehabilitating the community’s water tank, learning construction skills and acquiring expertise in building water reservoirs. Through specialized training in “Stones Shaping,” Mohammed gained the skills needed for precise work and a foundational understanding of engineering principles, empowering him as a skilled laborer.
Working alongside 24 others, Mohammed contributed to constructing the water tank, which significantly impacted the community by providing access to water, enhancing agricultural activities, and improving overall cleanliness. With the income earned, Mohammed could meet his family’s needs, settle debts, and find a sense of purpose and happiness. His story illustrates the transformative power of humanitarian efforts, offering hope for individuals and communities in need.
