In Marib City, conflict and displacement have exacerbated vulnerability, particularly among children facing acute malnutrition. Turki, a 16-month-old boy from Al Faow village, experienced malnutrition due to underweight and stunted growth. Seeking help, his mother, Muna’a, brought him to Al Mattar Health Facility (HF), where health workers promptly diagnosed him with moderate malnutrition, registering him for the Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) program Implemented by (BFD) and in partnership with World Food program (WFP). Turki received vital nutrition support through bi-weekly check-ups and Plumpy Sup supplements, a service benefiting many children and pregnant/lactating women.
Muna’a, Turki’s mother, shared their journey of struggle and hope, expressing gratitude for the improvement in Turki’s health through the Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) at Al Mata’ar HF. With the help of health workers, Turki received Plumpy Sup sachets for four months, along with education on nutrition and hygiene practices. Muna’a expressed hope that these services would continue to aid others in need, highlighting the program’s importance in providing essential support to vulnerable communities.
Health worker Liala recounted Turki’s progress, emphasizing the significance of timely intervention and regular monitoring in combating malnutrition.
